SW Adobe
built by Grace Shaw (late 2004 - fall 2005)

Grace started with an Adobe Roombox and Patio purchased from HBS. It just wasn't large enough to display all the wonderful SW furniture and goodies that she'd seen and purchased. She decided she needed an addition. The addition was constructed from insulation board, covered with drywall joint compound used as stucco.

The Outside

Views of the whole front.

Four views of the front yard.
The animals in the front yard were sculpted by Karl Blindheim. Grace made most of the cactus but a couple were purchased.

At the Delaware dollhouse show, Grace fell in love with Yesenia Slater's SW food table. But there was no room inside the house for it. So it had to live on the patio. Then, Grace fell in love with Marcia Backstrom's "Indian Grandma" doll. The doll, soon named Paula Running Nose, arrived in her nightgown and curlers and holding a box of Klneex. Thus... a story evolved. Paula was having a party on the front patio. The morning of the party, she has been feverishly cooking and has the table set up for her guests on the patio. She's making last minute adjustments to the food table and checking the weather. Inside, the living room is cleaned up, but the kitchen is a mess! In the bedroom, she has her skirt and top laid out to get dressed at the last minute.

A few miscellaneous photos of the outside.

A photo of the addition front. Two showing the background.
And a close-up of the animals and pond.

Grace bashed a country cabinet kit that she got from Bonnie Lavish to
make this SW bathroom cabinet.

And that's the SW adobe that Grace has been working on for so long. If you have any questions about it, feel free to get in touch with Grace.
